How to make a super simple ‘on pointe’ Ballet Bun Wrap
This month we are celebrating all things ballerina,
with our amazing May Bow Box® .
As the theme this month was of course ballet, we’ve put together this easy peasy, step by step guide, on how to make a bun wrap.
Here’s what you need to get started.
- 9mm or 10mm Grosgrain ribbon cut to approximately 18” in length.
- Mulberry Paper Roses or Satin Rose Buds
- Exclusive Baby Clara Bow Template
- Glue gun, Scissors and a lighter/candle (for sealing ribbon)
Let’s get started in 5 simple steps
1. First of all take your 10mm ribbon and cut a length of approx 18” in length.
2. Carefully singe each end of the ribbon to seal the ribbon before proceeding for neatness and to prevent fraying.
3. Next take your assembled Baby Clara Bow and find the Centre of your ribbon by folding it in half. Then carefully wrap the bow Center around the ribbon and seal with hot glue to fully secure.
4. You can then begin to decorate your ribbon from the bow outwards with your paper or satin roses. Feel free to use as many or as few as you like. We used paper roses but satin rose buds are very popular for bun wraps. I’d say 4/8 max.
Note: My daughter has very fine hair so we only used 4 buds either side.
5. And there you have your gorgeous and elegant ballerina bun wrap ready to go. Just wrap it around your bun and tie the ribbon in a bow underneath to finish the style.

These are super pretty and not just for ballerinas 🙌

Just made one and it was so simple and easy to create. Thank you for this. I’ve been thinking about making these for a while now but all other tutorials where much more difficult. This has really helped thanks. Xx
